The British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) is committed to helping our Trade Association’s members grow their businesses globally.
Through expert advice, strategic partnerships, and hands-on support at international trade shows, we make exporting more accessible — enabling members to explore new markets with confidence and clarity.
What We Do
International Trade Shows
Each year, BATF supports members across major global events, securing funding, negotiating discounts, and coordinating UK-branded areas to maximise visibility and impact.
From logistics and customs to preparation, funding applications and networking, we guide members through every stage — while leveraging our strong relationships with event organisers, embassies, and funding bodies.
In 2025 alone, BATF supported 89 businesses at international trade shows across the USA, Europe, and Asia, including:
- Atlanta Market – January & July 2025
- NY NOW, Ambiente Frankfurt, and Inhorgenta Munich – February 2025
- Hong Kong Jewellery Show and Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair – February–April 2025
- Design Tokyo Trade Mission – July 2025
- Autumn Fair Birmingham – September 2025
Through these events, we helped our members access over £114,000 of funding and secured £41,000 in buyer sponsorship — ensuring that UK brands could exhibit, connect, and grow their export opportunities.
Export Readiness and Market Access
We help members identify and enter new global markets through tailored research and advice. Our team supports businesses in navigating the export process — including documentation, customs procedures, freight, and duty verification — to ensure smooth international operations.
Members also receive guidance on market intelligence, pricing strategies, and export logistics, giving them a clear roadmap to global growth.
Specialist Advice
For complex or legally binding export issues, members gain access to our trusted network of service partners for expert support, including:
- VAT and HMRC compliance
- Customs and legal advice
- Document audits and import VAT reconciliation
- ATA Carnet services and duty verification
- Free legal consultations and discounted partner services
Buyer Missions & Trade Delegations
BATF regularly facilitates international buyer programmes, sponsorship packages, and trade missions designed to connect UK brands with overseas retailers, agents, and distributors.
In 2025, we supported 29 businesses through buyer sponsorship programmes and led an Explorer Mission to Ambiente, delivered in partnership with DBT North and South regions — featuring a panel discussion, networking reception, and market insight sessions.
