Heather Callaway

Heather Callaway

Non-Executive Director

Heather Callaway is a certified gemmologist (FGA and DGA) and Fellow of the Institute of Registered Valuers. After 18 years of experience valuing jewellery at leading UK firms, she established her independent practice, Heather Callaway Ltd, based in Staffordshire. Her expertise covers valuations for insurance, probate, asset division, and private treaty sales, with clients ranging from private collectors to prestigious houses such as the House of Garrard in London. Heather is an Associate Member of the Academy of Experts and prepares expert witness reports for civil and criminal cases. She is also a member of the Society of Jewellery Historians and the National Association of Jewellers, regularly attending conferences to stay at the forefront of her field.

Gert Schyberg

Gert Schyberg

Chair of the Board

Gert Schyberg is the Chair of the Board of the British Allied Trades Federation (BATF) and the founder and Managing Director of Sebnini Trading Ltd, a leading supplier of home fragrance and candle products. With more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing, finance, procurement, and international trade, Gert has built an industry-wide reputation for commercial acumen and integrity. A long-standing member of the Giftware Association, he has served on its National Committee for over 15 years, including a term as Chair, where he helped strengthen member engagement and advocate for responsible business practices. Appointed BATF President for 2024–2026, Gert now leads the Federation’s Board in promoting growth, collaboration, and innovation across its federated associations. His strategic insight and commitment to supporting UK SMEs continue to drive BATF’s mission to champion the creative and manufacturing sectors.

R. Stuart Illingworth

R. Stuart Illingworth

Non-Executive Director

R. Stuart Illingworth brings over 40 years of leadership experience as the former Managing Director and Chairman of Widdop Bingham & Co Ltd, one of the UK’s leading gift and homeware suppliers. Under his direction, the company evolved from a regional wholesaler into an international supplier to retailers including Tesco, Argos, The White Company, and Amazon. Stuart is known for his strategic, consensus-driven leadership style and expertise in family business governance, financial management, and product development. He also serves as a Governor and Director at Oldham Hulme Grammar School and as a Director of several property companies. His insight into business growth, succession planning, and stakeholder management adds significant depth to BATF’s Board.

John Henn

Job Role

John Henn is the Company Director of T A Henn and CIBJO. He joined the T A Henn as the 6th generation in the Henn family in 1981 aged 19 working alongside his father. Over the years he has accrued an extensive knowledge of this specialist industry through qualifications and major roles in the trade industry, which he continues to take part in.

Gary Wroe

Gary Wroe

Non-Executive Director

Gary Wroe is the Managing Director of Hockley Mint Ltd and has played an active role in advancing British jewellery manufacturing for over three decades. A long-standing supporter of the trade, he joined the British Jewellery Association as a co-opted member in 2012, later serving as Chairman. Gary went on to chair the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) from 2014 to 2016 and was President of the BATF from 2018 to 2020. His leadership continues to drive innovation, sustainability, and skills development within the UK jewellery industry.

Paul Griffiths

Paul Griffiths has over 40 years of experience in the finishing industry, the majority spent with Schloetter Co Ltd, where he is now Managing Director. Having worked across laboratory, technical, and managerial roles, Paul brings a deep understanding of electroplating and paint finishing applications across multiple industries. His technical expertise and leadership experience contribute to BATF’s commitment to innovation, safety, and quality in manufacturing. A former Chairman of the BSTSA, Paul is dedicated to supporting collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the surface engineering and finishing sectors.

John Taylor is an international business leader with more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing and aerospace. He specialises in commercial and operational growth, strategy formation, and organisational transformation. Known for his collaborative approach and ability to engage stakeholders at every level, John has led teams through complex restructuring and growth initiatives, consistently delivering profitability and performance improvement. His commercial insight and strong interpersonal skills support BATF’s ongoing mission to strengthen its member network and promote excellence across the allied trades.
