Trade mission to Tokyo, Japan 2026

We’re delighted to share that BATF has once again secured Department for Business and Trade (DBT) funding to deliver a Trade Mission to Japan, building on the momentum and success of our work in the market over the past three years.

The British Allied Trades Federation will return to Japan this summer with a DBT‑funded Trade Mission, bringing UK businesses to Tokyo from 8–12 June 2026.

This marks the second consecutive year that BATF has received DBT support for a Japan-focused mission, building on the strong foundations laid through sustained engagement in the market over the past three years. Securing funding for a repeat programme is a significant achievement and reflects both the quality of the mission and the tangible value it continues to deliver for UK businesses.

Building on Proven Success
Last year’s BATF-led delegation to Japan provided participating companies with a valuable introduction to one of the world’s most sophisticated and discerning consumer markets. The programme enabled UK businesses to gain first-hand market insight, develop meaningful commercial relationships and engage directly with key stakeholders across the Japanese home, gift and lifestyle sectors.

The continuation of DBT support into 2026 demonstrates confidence in BATF’s ability to deliver a well-structured, commercially focused programme that supports UK exporters at every stage of their international journey.

Why Japan?
Japan remains a highly attractive market for UK businesses, known for its appreciation of quality, craftsmanship, design and innovation. While entering the Japanese market can present challenges, the opportunities for long-term growth are considerable for companies that take a strategic, informed approach.

The BATF Trade Mission is designed to help businesses navigate this landscape by providing market intelligence, access to trusted networks and opportunities to meet potential partners and decision-makers on the ground.

Who Should Apply
The mission is open to UK‑based businesses operating in the home, gift and lifestyle sectors, including both first-time exporters to Japan and companies looking to strengthen or expand their existing presence in the market.

Participation is via application, ensuring that the programme brings together businesses with the right level of ambition and readiness to make the most of the opportunity.

What the Mission Offers
Participants can expect a structured programme focused on:

Developing a practical understanding of the Japanese market
Building relationships with industry contacts and potential partners
Gaining insight into consumer trends and commercial expectations
Exploring routes to market and long-term export growth
With BATF’s guidance and DBT backing, the mission offers a supportive and credible platform from which UK businesses can explore Japan with confidence.

Limited Places Available
Places on the Trade Mission are limited, and early expressions of interest are encouraged. Businesses considering Japan as a future growth market are urged to apply as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss whether the Trade Mission is right for your business, the BATF team would be happy to hear from you
