David Doyle remembered by the BATF

The British Allied Trades Federation and the National Association of Jewellers are saddened to share the news that David Doyle has passed away peacefully on Sunday 8 February, with his family beside him.

David served as President of the National Association of Jewellers from June 2018 to May 2023. He was also President of the BATF (formerly British Jewellery and Giftware finishing Federation) from 2008-2009. During that time he was a strong advocate for the jewellery sector, supporting members across retail, manufacturing and the wider trade. He was widely respected for his warmth, humour and generosity, as well as his steady commitment to the industry.

He played an important role in shaping the modern NAJ. As one of the architects behind the creation of the Association in 2015, he helped guide the unification of the British Jewellers’ Association and the National Association of Goldsmiths. That merger created the UK’s largest jewellery trade body, representing more than 2,000 businesses and setting high standards for professionalism, ethics and consumer trust.

Colleagues across the sector remember David not only for his leadership but for the relationships he built. He had a genuine interest in people and a clear belief in collaboration, education and maintaining strong professional standards within the trade.

His contribution to the NAJ, BATF and the wider jewellery community will be lasting. He will be greatly missed by friends, colleagues and all who worked with him.
